The holiday cottage is lovely — but Friday nights belong at the brewery. Every first Friday of the month, Hvide Sande Bryghus hosts a Pub Quiz from 7 pm, and everyone's welcome: locals who know the town inside out, and visitors curious to experience something beyond the beach.

This October, Jesper Graakjær from Skjern brings the 2026 season at ART56° to a close – a life in art that has wound from a pig farm and a draper's shop to life drawing at Aarhus Academy of Fine Arts and paintings that emerge from the happy accidents of paint on canvas. One of the year's most beloved traditions. The arrival of the Christmas ship is more than just an event – it's the moment when the Christmas spirit truly takes hold of Hvide Sande.

Most people know the New Year tradition of jumping off a chair and into the new year. Again this year in Søndervig it is possible to turn the traditional small jump into a big cold splash - with a jump directly into the North Sea.

In 2027 too, you can visit ART56° and meet rotating artists-in-residence, who for 14 days at a time have the opportunity to present their works and share their artistic practice in the open studio.

Three days of herring, fishing contests and community spirit – the Hvide Sande Herring Festival is back from 23–25 April 2027. Live music, smoked herring, kids' activities and a moped show are just some of the highlights as the harbour town celebrates its beloved herring heritage.

Join us on Ascension Day 2027, when we in Hvide Sande, true to tradition, close off Metheasvej and serve free samples of our beloved local delicacy, dried dabs. There's live music over lunch, and all shops are open.

Join us for Midsummer's Eve at Bauneborg, where FDF Hvide Sande lights the traditional bonfire on the banks of Ringkøbing Fjord on 23 June from 7 PM. Bring a garden chair, settle in, and enjoy one of the year's longest evenings with a bonfire speech, communal singing, and a warm atmosphere for the whole family.

Celebrate Midsummer at Sluseøen! On Tuesday 23 June 2027, join us for the traditional witch-burning, a bonfire speech, and communal singing as the Midsummer song rings out over the harbour basin at 9 PM. Karl Kristian, a Hvide Sande native returning home, provides the music. Free admission: see you at Hvide Sande Harbour.

On Sunday, 4 July 2027, Hvide Sande Harbour opens its doors to the whole family for Åben Havn. Step aboard a shrimp trawler or a rescue boat, meet local fishermen and firefighters, and taste your way through the harbour's finest treats – and it's all free.

Every year in August, Hvide Sande welcomes visitors to a week of classical music at the Late Summer Festival. 

This year's edition of Art in the Sluice places the coast at the centre — not as backdrop, but as condition. Four artists explore coastline, erosion and climate in one of the West Coast's most extraordinary exhibition spaces: the service corridor beneath the drainage sluice in Hvide Sande. Opening reception Sunday 2 August.

In August, Hvide Sande Church welcomes visitors to four special tourist services featuring community singing, music, and simultaneous translation into German. An international church experience in the heart of the summer holidays.

On Wednesdays in July and August, you have a unique opportunity to enjoy the spectacular view from the top of Lyngvig Lighthouse as the sun sets over the North Sea and darkness gradually falls, with the lighthouse remaining open until 9 pm.
