Every year, locals and visitors gather at the scenic headland by Ringkøbing Fjord as FDF Hvide Sande hosts its annual Midsummer celebration at Bauneborg:
- When: Monday, 23 June, from 7 PM
- Where: Bauneborg, Ringkøbing Fjord, southern end of Hvide Sande
- Admission: Free – feel free to bring garden chairs or blankets
- Organiser: FDF Hvide Sande
From 7 PM, the stalls open with grilled sausages, ice cream, waffles, coffee, and non-alcoholic drinks – so you'll be well looked after before the highlight of the evening: at 8 PM the bonfire is lit, and the night reaches its peak with a traditional bonfire speech and a communal rendition of the classic Danish Midsummer song under the bright summer sky.
Bauneborg is far more than just a beautifully located bonfire site. With views across Ringkøbing Fjord and the evening light reflected on the still water, it's hard to imagine a more atmospheric setting for one of Denmark's most cherished summer traditions. The event welcomes everyone – families, children, and anyone with a love of the outdoors and open-air togetherness.
Grab your garden chair and a blanket, and come celebrate Midsummer the way it should be done: with an open fire, good company, and the brightest fjord evening of the year.
