The business association and volunteers in Hvide Sande are ready to serve the iconic West Jutland speciality once again, when Æ Dabs Day is held on Ascension Day, May 14th from 11am-2pm.

For generations, West Jutlanders have preserved and enjoyed the special delicacy dabs – an ice fish that is salted and dried in the fresh sea air. Despite the Danish Food Authority's announced ban on open-air drying back in 2015, the local population in Hvide Sande has held fast to the tradition, and again this year visitors and locals can experience the authentic taste.

It's a tradition that brings the community together, while also giving visitors the opportunity to experience something so authentic that you can literally smell it from far away.

The event takes place on Metheasvej, where the grilled dabs can be washed down with cold beers from the local brewery. The event also features live music with the Morten Rune Trio, and the opportunity to meet local fishermen who tell the story of the craft behind preparing this distinctive regional speciality.
