Fiskeriets Hus
Dive into the history of fishing and Hvide Sande
At Fiskeriets Hus, you can experience the history of fishing and Hvide Sande and get close to life by
Ringkøbing Fjord and the North Sea. Dive into stories about fjord and sea fishers, as well as the
brave rescue crews who risked their lives in stormy weather.
Hvide Sande came into being as a town and fishing harbour after the drainage sluice opened in 1931.
Fiskeriets Hus tells the story of how this small local community came to be, of fishing in the fjord and out at sea – and gives you the stories behind the Hvide Sande you know today.
Step aboard the boats and play captain for a day, go on a cosy treasure hunt looking for fish and sea creatures that live in the waters by Hvide Sande – or let your imagination run wild on the maritime-themed nature playground.
Come along for a trip through the sluice!
During holiday periods, you can join a different kind of guided walk that takes you through the history of Hvide Sande – and you’ll get inside the lock, which is normally closed.
