Café Gaflen
Delicious food and gourmet ice cream in beautiful surroundings on Sluice Island
Café Gaflen is a family-owned café and grill bar on the lock island in Hvide Sande. On the menu you'll find classic fast food such as burgers, hot dogs and fish dishes, made from good ingredients that the owners Trine and Carsten find locally as much as possible.
At Café Gaflen, the fish fillets are cut from plaice caught in the North Sea and Skagerrak. Another specialty is the delicious fish ‘n’ chips, developed in collaboration with Royal Greenland. The burgers are made with beef from Himmerland, and Café Gaflen’s gourmet ice cream is a chapter in itself: Both soft ice cream and ball ice cream are of exceptional quality.
From the café and the large south-facing terrace deck, there is an unobstructed view of the passage lock, and it’s hard to find a more central place in Hvide Sande to enjoy a draft beer, or a glass of ice-cold rosé or Riesling of the place’s own import.
