All five Saturdays in August, you're invited to rummage through second-hand treasures, antiques and curiosities as Kirkens Korshær opens the Suitcase Market for the very first time on the grounds of their large charity shop on Gytjevej. It's old-fashioned, face-to-face trading at its best — with plenty of room for a chat, a browse and a bit of friendly haggling.

From the boots of parked cars, open suitcases and homemade tables, one exciting find after another emerges: bric-a-brac and antiques, toys and homeware, furniture, vinyl, books — you name it. All stalls are run by private individuals and anything legal goes, making the selection wonderfully wide and gloriously unpredictable, exactly as a good market should be.

While you're there, it's well worth stepping inside the large charity shop, where tens of thousands of interesting items are waiting for a new owner and a new life. Afterwards the harbour in Hvide Sande is right on your doorstep — full of great shops and places to eat.
