Britta Enemark Olsen was born in 1948 and has spent her life exploring different art forms – textiles, ceramics, and oil painting – finding her true voice in the latter. She works in themes, not as a formal exercise, but because she immerses herself in a particular mood or perspective until every facet of it has found its way through the brush.

In Britta's work, you meet people as individuals and as social beings – in figurative, almost naturalistic scenes that carry a distinctive twist, creating the tension she's always searching for. She works deliberately with light and shadow, space and especially the spaces in between. Pure colours rarely appear; it's in the subtle shades that the feeling lives.

Come and meet Britta in her open studio on Hvide Sande's old harbour and see what happens when a lifetime of curiosity about the world makes its way onto the canvas.
